When you have a sore on your body that won't heal, the Rev. Thomas T. Patterson Wound Healing Center at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is here to help. The center's team of doctors and nurses offers a comprehensive approach to help you understand and overcome what's preventing your wound from healing. And we have the equipment you need in order to help your body heal.
At the Wound Healing Center, we can find out why a wound hasn't healed despite months or even years of conventional treatments. If you have any wound that has not healed in 30 days or you have any of the conditions listed below, we can help you.
We treat people who have diabetes, circulatory problems, suppressed immune systems, cancer, burns, or other conditions that stand in the way of the body's natural ability to heal. We also help people with an impaired ability to heal caused by medications.
When you arrive at the Wound Healing Center, we'll evaluate your health and determine the best course of treatment for you. The treatment plan we'll suggest will be based on your needs, and we work with your primary care doctor to implement the plan. Treatment programs typically last up to 14 weeks.
As part of your treatment plan, we may offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We are equipped with two state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers, which deliver pressurized 100 percent oxygen to our patients to promote and accelerate the healing process.
When all of your wound-healing stages are complete, you won't be alone. Your treatment doesn't end when you leave the Wound Healing Center. We will teach you how to take care of your wound at home and how to prevent future problems once your wound has healed.
Since we specialize in healing wounds, you will continue to see your primary care doctor for other medical conditions or illnesses. We work with your primary care doctor, keeping him or her informed of the treatments you receive at the clinic.
We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
