For the second year in a row, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has been named one of the “Healthiest Companies in America” by Interactive Health, whose workplace wellness program helps businesses invest in the health of their employees.

Claxton-Hepburn is one of 151 companies across the country recognized this year for empowering employees to make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health. Companies must have reached or exceeded a 70 percent participation rate in their organization’s wellness program, and their workforce’s overall health risk was low, based on the results of annual health evaluation, to win the recognition.

Vicky Sharpe, benefits manager at Claxton-Hepburn, touted the program by exampling an employee success story. “One employee, who submitted their annual health evaluation in 2018, was noted to have a dangerously low iron count. The employee had no idea until she received a phone call from Claxton- Hepburn’s health insurance provider.” Sharpe continued, “The provider recommended interventions and condition management for the employee through the program. The employee received treatment at Claxton-Hepburn and is no longer suffering the symptoms.”

Charles Gijanto, interim president and CEO at Claxton-Hepburn stated, “We are excited to have won this award for the second consecutive year because it demonstrates that the first year was not random. It also verifies that we are committed to working with our staff to create a healthy work environment where every staff member is an important member of the team.”

“The best employers, like Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, figure out a way to differentiate themselves and show employees that they care,” said Interactive Health President and CEO Bill Goldberg. “Investing in the health of your employees not only achieves that but has far-reaching implications across the organization. A healthier workforce is one that is happier, more engaged and more productive.”

Participants in Claxton-Hepburn’s Interactive Health Program have gained access to year-round personalized digital tools, coaching, wellness challenges, and fresh information about their health through an annual evaluation. This evaluation provided valuable information that empowers participants to adopt new habits. This process is what contributed to Claxton-Hepburn being named among the country’s healthiest companies.
