Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Provides Comprehensive Gastroenterology Care

Nearly 1 in 4 Americans is affected by digestive diseases. But many symptoms are ignored and left untreated, causing more discomfort and potential complications. At Claxton-Hepburn, our gastroenterology team of Ahmad Kadhim, MD, and Lindsey Hayes, FNP, brings extensive research, expertise, and training home to the North Country. The Claxton Medical Gastroenterology team is taking new patients with no provider referral required by calling 315-713-6740. Claxton Medical Gastroenterology is located at 3 Lyon Place, Suite 100, Ogdensburg.

Dr. Kadhim and Ms. Hayes are passionate about health, diet, and the role of nutrition in preventing disease. They welcome the opportunity to provide relief to patients in the North Country who struggle with gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr. Kadhim stated, “Chronic gastrointestinal disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and pancreatic disease, cause a lot of suffering.” He continued, “It makes me feel good to help those patients feel better.” Hayes added, “I am glad to be home working with Dr. Kadhim provide compassionate, state-of-the-art gastroenterology care for my North Country friends and family.”

The Claxton Medical Gastroenterology practice provides colorectal cancer screenings and diagnoses. Dr. Kadhim stated, “Colorectal cancer places stressful burdens on patients and their families. But having regular screenings gives you the answers you need to live a healthier—and stress-free life.”

The team treats a broad scope of gastrointestinal issues including conditions affecting the liver, bile duct, gallbladder, and pancreas, Crohn’s disease, functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, and motility disorders like gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, and diarrhea. They also offer BRAVO pH study, PillCam SB capsule (digestive system imaging) and fecal microbiota transplant.

Dr. Kadhim earned his medical degree at the University of the Americas and completed residencies at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center, and Sinai Grace Hospital, and completed fellowships at the University of Ottawa, The Ottawa Hospital, and the University of Toronto, University Health Network. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
