Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Holds Employee Recognition Program

Brawler. Renegade. Warrior. Not words you would typically use to describe hospital employees. Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center its new employee recognition program, “Claxton Defenders,” shows that these are excellent characteristics in employees to ensure the best care is provided to patients. The following awards were made during a recent awards ceremony.

A Brawler effectively manages challenge and hardship; is strong and confident, and empowers others. The employee recognized as a Brawler was Megan Hunter, RN, who works in obstetrics. Megan has been employed at Claxton-Hepburn since 2007. Megan is a hard-working team player who goes above and beyond to help her co-workers. She promotes teamwork and excels with great patient care. Her sense of humor is unique, and during stressful times, she displays strong emotional control.

A Renegade is a troubleshooter and problem solver; an innovator; and continuously seeks improvement. The employee recognized as a Renegade was Michael Wheeler, lead mechanic, and supervisor of the facilities management department. Mike has been employed at Claxton-Hepburn since 1991. Mike is a very knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking teammate who is committed to the Medical Center and our customers.

Mike is friendly, has an even temperament and understands what genuine customer service is. He looks at opportunity and change as positive and learning experiences.

A Warrior is a team player; is fully engaged in their role; and dependable and has the power to endure. The employee recognized as a Warrior was Cecil Barr, the parking attendant, and greeter. Cecil has been employed at Claxton-Hepburn since 2004. Cecil is an asset to both the Medical Center and the community. He is complimented by patients and staff as always going above and beyond and putting safety first. No matter the weather, Cecil still keeps his sunny, cheerful, and courteous disposition whether his parking a vehicle or assisting someone crossing the street.

Each winner received flowers, a recognition certificate, gift cards, a special parking space, and lunch with CEO Nate Howell at a restaurant of their choice. New Claxton Defenders will be recognized each quarter. Employees are nominated by co-workers and supervisors. The Claxton Defenders Employee Recognition Program is part of Claxton-Hepburn’s marketing campaign, “Tomorrow is worth defending.”
