Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is proud to announce its recognition as one of the “Healthiest Companies in America” by Interactive Health, a national provider known for its preventive health programs that encourage employees to adopt new health habits. Claxton-Hepburn is one of 184 companies across the country recognized this year for empowering employees to make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health. This is the first year that Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has earned this distinction.
With the help of effective preventive health initiatives, Interactive Health’s “Healthiest Companies in America” recipients have reached or exceeded an exemplary 70 percent participation rate in their organization’s wellness program. The workforce overall health risk was low, based on results of an annual health evaluation that involves a blood draw, lab tests, and detailed questionnaire.
Vicky Sharpe, benefits manager at Claxton-Hepburn, touted the program by exampling an employee success story. “One employee, who submitted their annual health evaluation in 2016, was noted to have high cholesterol. The employee received interventions and condition management through the program and saw amazing results in 2017. The employee was able to significantly lower their cholesterol, lose thirty pounds, begin a routine exercise regime, and incorporated a healthy diet,” Sharpe also noted that “Our net cost avoidance, which is the estimate of hard dollars Claxton-Hepburn has avoided because of the positive health migrations of our members over the last program year was $53,851. We have a high rate of employee participation in our program, and it is reflective in our success stories and net cost avoidance.”
Participants in Interactive Health’s program receive a thorough health evaluation to identify risk and learn about their health status. Their new-found health status motivates them to adopt new habits, which Interactive Health supports through year-round personalized digital tools, coaching, and individualized health goals, and other resources, which is what contributed to Claxton-Hepburn being namedamong the country’s healthiest companies.
