To raise awareness of the importance of screening for breast cancer, Claxton-Hepburn employees and members of the St. Lawrence County Cancer Services Program and the Gouverneur Breast Cancer Walk Fund (GBCWF) joined the National Mammography Day celebration on October 20, 2017. All hospital staff was encouraged to dress in pink, and during the celebration staff from the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center and the Medical Center’s Breast Health Center handed out breast cancer screening information while participants enjoyed cupcakes, cookies, and punch. A basket of pink ribbon merchandise was raffled off at the event, and the winner was Jane Compeau of Claxton-Hepburn. All proceeds from the raffle were given to the GBCWF. Additionally, the Ogdensburg Pee Wee football league raised money in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and donated those funds to the GBWCF at Claxton-Hepburn’s event. Shown in the photo are Claxton-Hepburn employees Ashley Peggs, Emma Beauchamp, Allyson Smith, Jennifer Link, Nicole Bacon-Ward, Kendall Wilson, Kay Zimmer, and Judy Bailey.
