parenting
Teen parenting is especially difficult because of the
demand for teens to play multiple roles such as parent, student, and
employee. The reality of motherhood for teens can be difficult because
they have to live in two different worlds, adolescence and motherhood.
Our teen parenting classes are for individuals or groups. Nurses and
other professionals can provide advice and counseling on coping, academic
success, job skills training and offer guidance and support. Talking to
peers, nurses, or other professionals can promote the physical and psychological
health of adolescent parents.
For more information or to
register for any class, contact the
Community Relations Department at 315-713-5251.
Claxton-Hepburn also sponsors a Prenatal Care
Assistance Program (PCAP)/MOMS Provider center known as the St. Lawrence
Maternal Care Center. The Maternal Care Center (MCC) is the exclusive site in
St. Lawrence County for the PCAP program. This service is available to any
pregnant woman. Presumptive eligibility is done on site. The MCC can be
contacted at 315-393-5998 Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The MCC is located on the third floor of the Medical
Center's Annex Building.
