It is licensed by the New York State Department of Health and accredited by the Joint Commission. The Lab also participates in proficiency programs from the New York State Department of Health, the College of American Pathologists and the American Proficiency Institute and maintains an overall proficiency grade of 99%.
The Laboratory is licensed to perform on-site testing in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and Anatomical Pathology and utilizes the Laboratory Corporation of America as the primary provider for esoteric testing. The Laboratory also works with local businesses and agencies to provide employee and candidate drug screening.
The Lab maintains a comprehensive performance improvement program that insures quality in all areas of testing and optimal turn-around-time for test results. The Medical Center contracts with the American Red Cross for various blood products and in turn, Claxton-Hepburn sponsors several blood donor drives for the American Red Cross each year, with outreach to the community through local news agencies. We strive to keep an adequate blood supply by enlisting all possible donors.
